Annual Wildlife Extravaganza
Beginning in 1996 the members of the NCWHF organized and hosted the first annual Wildlife Extravaganza. Ever since, this event has been the Foundation's flagship fund raiser. On average this event will net the Foundation around $50,000. The concept is simple and effective. The Foundation's members will presale 100 tickets at $1,000 a piece. Half of the proceeds will go to cover the expense of the event and the other half into the Foundations Endowment. One ticket admits two people and qualifies the ticket holder for all prizes. The event is formatted as a reverse raffle that includes 10 major prizes such as boats, guns, ATVs, trips and jewelry. The grand prize has always been an automobile. Last year's winner received a 2006 Chevrolet Super cab 4x4. Past winners have received Land Rovers and Mercedes Benz SUVs. This event is hosted at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina and is usually held the second or third weekend in February. We would like to take our fundraisers on the road and establish a membership banquet in each county. These events would be organized in a similar fashion to the Ducks Unlimited, Quail Unlimited and Wild Turkey Federation events.
General Membership tickets will sell for $65 and Life Sponsor tickets at $250. We are currently seeking to establish committees in all 100 counties of North Carolina. If you have a group that might be interested in establishing an event in your county, please email walt.knott@ncwhf.org.
